Why I do what I do: A glimpse into my journey so far
My career has been a tapestry of experiences across various industries, including hospitality, advertising, digital media, publishing and pharmaceuticals. As you probably know from your own personal journey, experiences shape your very passion for learning and growth, and for me, helping others succeed is a desire that has only been fuelled further by my ups and downs.
As many of you who have attended my seminars and courses will know, I’m not shy about sharing my story or the lessons I’ve learned (the hard way) during its narrative. For those of you not familiar with my journey so far, here’s a sneak preview, and a brief explanation of why I am dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and business leaders as a result.
Diverse beginnings and entrepreneurial adventures
I began my career in corporate advertising and publishing, where I learned to marry creativity with strategic business acumen. This experience was invaluable as I transitioned into the pharmaceutical sector in 2001. It was here that I gained a deeper appreciation for market dynamics and customer behaviour, fascinations that carved out the career path I’m on right now.
Fuelled by these insights, I ventured into entrepreneurship, founding a magazine publishing enterprise. In 2010, I expanded my horizons by launching a full-service media agency along the M4 corridor. This agency enabled me to collaborate with notable brands across the retail, leisure, professional services, automotive and property sectors, crafting and executing impactful media campaigns.
Leadership and challenges in the automotive sector
In 2016, I embraced a new challenge as CEO of David Spear Commercial Vehicles, a leading LCV dealership. During my tenure, I focused on driving growth and innovation, leading to significant milestones for the company.
Under my leadership, the company experienced remarkable growth. It was a period marked by collaboration and innovation, not to mention a few prestigious accolades, including the Auto Trader Digital Click Award for Independent Business Transformation and The Institute of Sales Management’s BESMA Award for Senior Leadership Team of the Year.
Navigating the storm: Hospitality and the pandemic
Drawing on my very early experiences in hospitality, my journey continued with the launch of several ventures in this sector… just as the pandemic hit. These were particularly trying times as the hospitality industry faced unprecedented challenges.
Navigating through lockdowns, changing regulations and economic uncertainty required resilience and adaptability. This period reinforced my belief in the importance of strong leadership and the ability to pivot in the face of adversity.
Giving back as a mentor
My diverse career has equipped me with a deep understanding of the highs and lows of business, which has in turn driven my passion for business coaching and mentorship. By listening, supporting, and sharing practical, real-life strategies that foster growth and transformation, I’ve been able to help entrepreneurs navigate their own challenges and realise their visions.
Speaking at international conferences has also allowed me to share my journey and insights with global brands like Kellogg’s, P&G and Legrand. These experiences have been about more than just professional recognition. They’ve been opportunities to motivate others to strive for excellence and lead with purpose.
Beyond my professional endeavours, I find great fulfilment in volunteering as a business mentor. Supporting startups and medium-sized enterprises allows me to give back to the community and help others avoid some of the pitfalls I’ve encountered.
Needless to say, it’s incredibly rewarding sharing the lessons I’ve learned and inspiring others to pursue their dreams with confidence.

Reflecting on my journey isn’t about boasting but sharing the lessons and insights I’ve gathered along the way. I hope it offers a glimpse into why I am passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and business leaders.
In essence, I’m simply a people-driven person with a resilient spirit and a belief that anything is possible. My journey is a testament to the power of embracing challenges and cultivating creativity, and I’m committed to fostering growth, inspiring change and helping others succeed in their business ventures.
Through all these experiences, I’ve come to understand that the greatest rewards come from seeing others succeed. That’s why I do what I do.
